These two highly intelligent and fun loving couple just could not stop swooning and laughing and being silly with each other. You could say we had some fun times in Downtown Troy NY making some Engagement Photos, but what we were really doing was just being crazy kids hanging out in the rainy and cloudy day - perfectly overcast for some photos. It was a perfect day for an indie band cover photo against a shrub! Throughout the day they reminisced on places they used to go to, Schools they used to attend and all the memories in between.

The day starts with A TON of laughing, perfect - that means we’re in for a PARTY. I get to Katie’s room and one of the bridesmaids is DEFINITELY keeping the party vibes on high (You the true MVP). There was no shortage of laughing, champagne, beautiful details and loving family in this room. Before her mom gets to put on her dress we take a couple of photos of Katie and her Bridesmaids on the balcony and a small champagne toast. When Katie is all buttoned up in her dress, we did a quick first look with Dad and then I moved into Ryan’s room to capture some details as he gets ready. His sister helps him put on his jacket and a family friend/florist help pin the flower and we quickly whisk ourselves away to get ready for the First Look before it starts to have the IDEA of rain.

On THIS day in July, It was a hot day - Ironically enough we were all worried there would be rain so we were first coming up with a rain plan - then as the days got closer, it was definitely NOT going to rain. Instead, Mother Nature said “Let there be sun” and TONS of it. It was a hot and humid day, thank goodness for AC at the Marriott Troy and Takk House because we took advantage of all the cool interiors as much as possible.

Now, Meg and Bill are one of the chillest couple’s i know, and what’s important to chill couples? Chill friends and a bumping party, which of course, Caroline of Upbeat Occasions ALWAYS brings when she’s Dj-ing. They were definitely a little nervous, but more so excited to see each other for first look, they just wanted to be together and party together and having this moment with just the two of them was perfect. We were able to enjoy time documenting these two causing shenanigans with each other and making each other laugh, but most importantly, avoiding messing up that beautiful hair done up by Ashley. Only way this day was going to get better, was if reception was a load of fun, and boy was it ever.

David and Joe have been WAITING for this moment. Two people who are both loving and caring and genuinely nice people have finally met each other and have decided to combine their lives. Even if their lives have been intertwined for quite some time, its through this momentous moment that these two were joined officially. These two who have been put together, let now one asunder.

Michelle and Gina are what most comfortable couples are like, easy going and don't take anything too seriously when it comes to making each other laugh. Ironically, they had just had a small argument prior to them being at the engagement session, which of course I took the oppertunity to start making it awkward. Those who have ever been in relationships know that the last thing you want to do when you're angry at your significant other is be close to them at all. Well, when you're with me, and you just had an argument, I'm dumping you right into the fray, Kisses, snuggles, and awkward stares galore. The thing I admire most about this couple is their honesty to each other, and their unapologetic love for each other.

Karla and Brian have this look they give each other as if they fall in love with each other over and over again. Both teachers of movement, one dance, the other track, one about elegance and finese, the other about strength and precision. They have this energy about them the entire session that I just fell in love with as they easily fell into one another and just laughed, and continued to laugh and smile. It was a good day. I can't wait until Novemeber! Come sooner pleaseee!

Engagement Sessions are super fun, they help couples get comfortable in front of the camera, but I also get to find out more about them, and draw out their personalities and special interests whilst keeping everything casual and focused on them. Its the perfect thing to take up from a photographer if they offer it as part of their wedding packages because it help you get ready for what to expect on the wedding day. At first I felt a little bit reserved because they wanted to do part of their Engagement Session at the Oakwood Cemetery but when we got started, the light was beautiful and everything was so amazing. They had their first Date at the Oakwood Cemetery, well their first OFFICIAL date. ;-) We then traveled to Troy NY to get some shots right in the downtown district. It was laughs and giggles all day, I couldn't ask for a happier couple!
